Emergency Appointment FAQs

If you are an NHS patient you will be charged a Band 1 fee for emergency dental care, such

as pain relief or a temporary filling. This is £????

Costs for private dental treatment, including emergency dental care, can be obtained by

contacting your local Riverdale dental practice directly.

You can find your nearest Riverdale practice here, and contact them for an emergency

dental appointment.

Most Riverdale practices will offer same-day or next-day emergency dental appointments.

However, you should call your Riverdale practice to book in advance.

If a tooth is knocked out, keep the tooth or fragment safe, ideally in milk and contact your local Riverdale practice ASAP.

Children fall and it is common for them to knock baby teeth. If a tooth is knocked out, don’t worry, if you have the tooth, keep it safe and contact your local Riverdale practice. If a tooth is knocked out or dislodged, this can cause bleeding from the area. Ask the child to bite down firmly on a piece of rolled up gauze or kitchen roll to apply pressure to stem any bleeding. If the child is too young, place the rolled-up gauze or kitchen roll against the area and apply gentle pressure.

If the child has knocked out an adult tooth, please keep the tooth or fragment in milk and contact your local Riverdale practice ASAP

Riverdale does not have the capacity to book emergency appointments out of hours.

However, if the Riverdale practice you are a patient at offers NHS dental care and you have a dental emergency outside of open hours, we recommend calling the NHS 111 line.

If you are a patient at a practice that solely offers private dental care, then the instructions can differ

from practice to practice-please check the appropriate page on the website-link
