I recently joined vitality dentist in stoksley, as a new patient after difficulties with my NHS dentist. Both times I have seen Mr Ben Smith who is in my opinion the best dentist in the world!! 😀 I cannot praise him enough here is why....
ABOUT ME -: Following numerous gastric surgeries my teeth have become weak resulting in multiple issues with my remaining teeth and gums. I also have a history of trauma and PTSD following a difficult experience with a dentist when I was a child. This trauma still affects me today making me extremely anxious visiting any dentist. All trauma can be re triggered usually by noises, smells, equipment, environments and people replicating their trauma. Everyone can probably relate to the distinct noises and smells from any dentist practice, making me a difficult case to take on.
THE PROBLEM -: In June 2024 I required an emergency appointment due to the last two back teeth upper right side had cracked/collapsed affecting both teeth. The pain was excruciating resulting in me not sleeping for two days. The pain was tracking up my face into my eye and ear. Without hesitation it was the worst pain i have ever suffered,any change in tempreture was unbearable, eating and drinking was impossible and with enough pain medication to knock a horse out absloubtly nothing helped.
THE DENTIST -: Despite me being a new patient to Mr Smith he ensured space was made available for me and offered a long appointment recognising it was likly going to be a complex issue. My appointment lasted over 90 minutes.
Mr Smith knowing my history explained everything he was going to do at every stage. Continually giving me feedback througout every stage of the treatment. Telling me prior to what he was doing what sort of noise smell taste i was about to experience, and crucially how much longer he was going to be at every stage. This was invaluable in helping me tolerate each procedure and machine. This was crucial to me remaining present mentally and not being pulled into a PTSD trauma response. He was professional but more importantly to me he was patient and kind. Showed genuine empathy and understanding. He was not judgemental (my previous NHS dentist once told me the pain I was experiencing during his procedure was a consequence of me not looking after my teeth). So whilst most people would expect as a bare minimum not to be judged or critised by a professional this is not always the case. Also for reference I do look after my teeth, I've never required a professional clean and never had to have plaque removed.
So Mr Smiths attitude towards me immediately put me at ease and didn't make me feel awkward or uncomfortable.
Mr Smith numbed my gums before injecting me with the numbing solution and I didn't feel a thing for the 90 minutes he was working on my teeth. He also sets realistic outcomes IE I may require a root filling in this same tooth but his priority was to get my pain under control. I have not had any further pain since the treatment.
THE TEAM -: Reception staff and dental assistants are also professional but more importantly show empathy and understanding. You feel cared for and secure in their care from the moment you walk into the building, through to aftercare. Given my complex history with dentists and my oral care I feel very confident being able to highly recommend this practice, and more specifically Mr Smith. Please be reassured no matter what reason you have for needing dental care you are in exceptionally capable hands with vitality. I cannot praise them enough, and thank them from the bottom of my heart.

I only recently started going to Vitality but would definitely recommend this dental practice. All the staff are lovely, very friendly and I feel they offer a great customer service. I like the fact they contact you afterwards to check everything is ok following your treatment and if you have any questions they respond very quickly. During my appointments Ian was very patient answering my many questions regarding my treatment which I really appreciated many thanks, Andrea Holborn.
I would absolutely recommend this friendly and efficient dental practice. I have recently had several appointments with Stoycho to replace old ugly amalgam fillings which I have had most of my adult life. He explained all procedures thoroughly and has done an amazing job.
