Composite Bonding

Composite Bonding is where tooth coloured composite material is added to your natural tooth to improve it’s shape and contour. This is a treatment that can transform your smile in a short space of time with little if any damage to your teeth, unlike crowns and veneer which often require a large amount of your tooth to be drilled away. Composite bonding is often done in conjunction with tooth whitening (link to this) and/or tooth straightening (link to orthodontics).

If the gap is small then the teeth either side of the gap can be made slightly wider to fill the gap, however wider gaps may require a dental implant (link), a bridge (link) or a denture.

This varies depending on person to person but 5-7 years would be expected. However it can be less than this depending on your bite and your habits (if you bite fingernails or grind your teeth, for example).

We generally offer Composite Bonding/Veneers on a private-only basis. In some cases, however, aesthetic dental care may be offered on the NHS if there is clinical, rather than cosmetic, need. This is at the discretion of your dentist.
