A root canal is performed when the soft inner part of a tooth, known as the pulp, is injured, becoming inflamed or infected.
A Vitality dentist will assess the likelihood of success By examining your tooth and looking at an x-ray before discussing root canal treatment with you.
Root Canal Treatment is when the dentist removes the damaged tooth pulp from a tooth, then cleans and disinfects the pulp space and then fills the space with a root canal filling.
We would always recommend saving a tooth where possible rather than extracting it. It makes sense to keep our natural teeth for as long as possible.
Treatment is always performed under local anaesthetic, via a small injection to the gum, to ensure the procedure is pain free.
Root canal treatments are offered across our private dental practices. Contact one of our practices for treatment costs or simply book online using our portal.
A root canal usually takes between 30 and 90 minutes per session. This often requires follow-up sessions to ensure the best results possible for the patient.
